Kathryn Lee Kalisz, an artist, colourist and writer, spent all of her adult life studying colour, its use, its affect on people and its relationship to their well being.  

Kathryn’s extensive research into colour led to her employment as a colourist with Munsell Colour, a division of Gretag-Macbeth Corporation, Newburgh, New York. She left Munsell in 1991 to concentrate on her art and continue her studies.

colour analysis text bookMs. Kalisz was included in “Who’s Who of American Women,” 2000-2001, Millennium Edition for her innovative work as an artist, colourist and teacher.

Her book, Understanding Your Color (1996) was the culmination of her love for colour, and her interest in colour’s relationship to the human being.

Kathryn successfully owned and operated her United States based company, Sci\ART Global L.L.C , until her death in 2010. 

During her 10 years as CEO, she developed the worlds first Personal Colour Communication Standard for use in the beauty, Fashion, Image, Interior Design and Wellness industries. 

Her certified 12 Tone personal colour system, certified training program, and associated products set the standard worldwide for accuracy in the field of personal colour communication.

Kathryn's Certified 12 Tone Personal Colour Analysis system continues to be offered in the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia. The Certified 12 Tone education and training program is currently offered in Australia, Hong Kong and China.

  • Assist with development and responsible for production of Munsell's "Matchpoint" Metameric Colour Rule.
  • Assist with development and responsible for production of Munsell's "Nearly Neutrals" Book of Colour, a collection of 1,100 colours in the almost neutral are of color space, designed for Walt Disney Corporation and the interior design industry.
